History was made at the Tokyo Olympics, the First Skateboard Games.

On July 25th, 2021, the Skateboard community saw history as their beloved sport made a debut at the Tokyo Olympics. A four-day tournament was held, a place of joy for the youth street culture to show the world their tradition.

Notable international athletes are participating in this inaugural championship. Many eyes are focusing on the host's representative, Yuto Horigome, and the tournament's favorite, United State's Nyjah Huston.

By adding skateboarding as a new sport, the International Olympic Committee has the ambition to tap into the young fans worldwide, who have turned skateboarding into a multi-billion dollar industry.

Tony Hawk, an avid skateboard lover and entrepreneur said that this sport was a shock to the world stage.

"As a kid who mostly got teased for my interest in skateboarding, I never imagined it would become part of the Olympics," Hawk wrote underneath the Instagram video he posted.

Hope is Lost for the Young Garuda to Qualified for Paris Olimpics

Thursday, 9th of May 2024, at Clairefontaine, Paris, France, is the day the young Garuda's hope vanished as the 0-1 defeat to Guinea meant that they were eliminated from qualifying for the Paris Olympics.

30 minutes is the time needed for Guinea to take the lead against Indonesia, courtesy of Ilaix Moriba's calm penalty. Countless attempts for the young Garuda to retaliate, but their hard work has no reward as their chances are thwarted by a ruthless Guinean defense.

The second half came, and more drama seemed to unveil before our eyes. Many hardfought chances are being flung by the Indonesians', but the sturdy wall by the Guinean are able to foil the attack. The drama keeps on continuing from the sideline, as the young Garuda's head coach Shin Tae-Yong are being sent to the stands after a heated protest towards the fourth officials in the 75th minute.

The young Garuda's fight continues on without their respected head coach. Not long after that, Guinea has another chance to double their lead from the penalty spot, but the chances are squandered by Algassime Bah. A glimmer of hope is visible, and an encouragement to fight back is shown from the young Garudas.

Unfortunately, even with the 8 minutes added on in the second half, the young Garuda wasn't able to convert any of their chances. Their journey must end at the hands of the ruthless Guinean.

A heartbreaking result frustrates the Indonesians. A chance to appear at the Olympics for the second time since 1959 is buried down deep in the sorrows of the Indonesian people.
